Cleared of assault on ambulance technician

A man accused of breaking a medic’s wrist when an ambulance crew intervened in a row with his ex-girlfriend has been cleared.
Adam Kelly, 26, was said to have hurled Gerry Van Antwerp to the ground, fracturing the emergency medical technician’s right wrist.
But a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court took less than five minutes to unanimously acquit Kelly.
Prosecutors claimed Kelly had earlier attacked Mr Van Antwerp’s colleague Anthony Wood after warning the paramedic: “If you don’t f**k off I will knock you out as well.”
Mr Van Antwerp said he and Mr Wood intervened in a ‘domestic dispute’ between Mr Kelly and his former partner outside Homerton Ambulance Station in east London on July 9, 2007.
The ambulancemen claimed they rushed to the woman’s aid after Kelly threw cosmetics from her handbag at his ex-girlfriend’s face.
But Mr Kelly told jurors he was forced to act in self-defence after the duo attacked him.
He admitted arguing with his ex, but said Mr Van Antwerp and Mr Wood ‘jumped’ on him.
Kelly, of Oswald Street, Lower Clapton, was cleared of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was found not guilty so of course justice has been done.
Unusual for an ambulance crew to attack someone while they are at work. I wonder if they got disciplined?
More usual is for ambulance staff to be beaten, spat upon and generally abused.
