PTSD Survey

ParamedicUK recently received an email from Tim at Beyond the Frontline. (http://beyondthefrontline.com)

“Hi,

I am a member of the three 9 services and I have spent the last year suffering from PTSD. It has been directly attributed to the work I carried out for the emergency services.

As I get better I can see that it is important for me to start action that will protect other members of the public services.

I have built a website that is live but currently un advertised but the main purpose of my plight is to form a pressure group forcing better care for the front line workers in the emergency services.

I am currently in the final stages of gaining charity status and as soon as I can fund raise things will really take off!

The reason I am contacting you is this, I am looking for members of the emergency services to take part in a short email survey.

The survey will be anonymous and should only take about 10 minutes to complete.

It would be a massive help if you could mention this on your website and ask anyone willing to take part to email Info@beyondthefrontline.com

Thank you so much for your time

Kind regards

Tim”

i am a 20+yr paramedic in a city and county local gov.run ems service. i was dx in aug.2008-dec.2008 with ptsd. it was through a EAP program (empolyee assist. program) and it was manditory or be fired. my counsoler dx me with it,all paper work was filed by her and sent back to the eap rep. i was fired in jan.13th 2010 by phone. after two and ahalf wks, i finally got a copy of my personal file.of course there is no paper work showing i went, who sent me,for how long, who i consoled with,my dx, or final out come.they just me back on truck, after a bad call on jan.8th 2010, i was fired on the 13th. never given or aloud to employ representation present. and yes that was my 2nd time of being dx with ptsd.
