Paediatric cardiac arrest has traditionally been considered a futile medical condition with dismal outcomes.
Data in the 21st century indicate that more than 25% of children treated for in-hospital cardiac arrests survive to hospital discharge and more than 10% of children older than 1 year treated for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests survive to hospital discharge
