Paramedic hero takes drink driver’s keys

A paramedic who attempted to perform a citizens arrest on a man who bit him has been awarded £1,000 compensation and £400 reward from public funds for his “public spiritedness”.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard that Peter Kelly, a paramedic based at Stansted Airport, grabbed the car keys of 28-year-old Terry Neaster, of Kingfisher Drive, Soham, after seeing him driving dangerously.
Neaster, a former soldier who served in Iraq, pleaded guilty on Thursday to dangerous driving, assault causing actual bodily harm and driving with excess alcohol.
