Ambulance crews ‘bullied’

Ambulance staff are the unhappiest health workers, a study has found.

Morale is rock bottom with paramedics saying they are bullied, harassed or discriminated against more than other NHS employees.

Less than half feel able to cope with the pressure. Shockingly, just 56 per cent feel they have all the information needed to do their job. The figures come in a survey of 56,000 NHS staff, in which the SAS falls below national standards in EVERY one of 31 questions assessing happiness.

An Ambulance Service Union spokesman said: “Staff feel undervalued, morale is low. It is down to a lack of communication between staff and management. We hear it regularly, but it was surprising to see how widespread it was.”
